Time is money, money is time
I’m a third year communications student majoring in journalism, working part-time as a barista and interning once a week at Next Media. You’d think that would be more than enough on my plate but in reality it’s not enough, it’s not good enough.
Ever find yourself doing almost anything to get to where you want to be? But it’s too hard because you can’t find the time? Time is money. It’s so precious that you know you don’t want to be wasting it on things that won’t benefit you in the long run. Time is Important especially for a university student It’s what we want and what we need. We need time to rest, time to study, time to make money, time to intern, time to spend with family, friends and time to get out there. It’s something we all crave for.
Most university students spend their time on making a living. It’s filled with 9-5 days and days we’re supposed to have to ourselves is spent on making money just to get by. Honestly it does get tough, students do struggle especially when we’re at the point of physical exhaustion and when we’re socially deprived. It gets hard when you’re dying to rest and recover but you just have to keep up with your priorities.
It’s very important especially as a student to manage your time wisely. A good friend told me to write down all the priorities I had and to look at how much time you spend on each priority. If you’re spending too much time on things that won’t benefit you in the long run or if you’re spending too much time on something that’s draining most of your energy you’re going to have to re-arrange your priorities. I listened to my friend and I ended up dropping things that would save me more time for example I was playing basketball 3 times a week and I ended up limiting myself to playing only once a week. I now have more time to rest and recover for a full week of uni, work and interning. You’ll notice the difference when you start realising what’s more important for you physically and mentally.
Just a few words of advice think of time as money. Spend it wisely because unlike money you can’t get time back. Start taking control of your life before life takes over you. As students you will have amazing experiences. Don’t tie yourself down with things that will consume most of your time and energy. The worst thing you could do is watch your life go down the drain. So I encourage you guys to start getting organised and start living life to the fullest!
